Diane DeMarco, Principal, and founder of Consultants for Institutional Advancement, partners with board members, senior administrators, and development officers throughout the non-profit sector. A seasoned fundraising executive with thirty-five years of field experience, DeMarco has managed comprehensive fundraising programs and activities of all types and is the guiding force behind the firm’s diverse and extensive client base.
Dedicated to the non-profit sector since 1978, DeMarco fosters relationships and motivates volunteers, staff, donors, and leadership with her “lead by example” style. A professional with commanding knowledge of industry methods, Diane is a tireless coach who achieves success through persistence and hard work matched by personal integrity. In 2014 she was the recipient of ESC’s Edmund V. Marshall Outstanding Project of the Year Award in recognition of the development of new methods to enhance organizational capacity. Initially designated a “Certified Fundraising Executive” by CFRE International in the year 2000, DeMarco continually sustains recertification.
Prior to establishing Consultants for Institutional Advancement, Diane held positions as Director of Major Gifts for the Massachusetts Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Associate Director of Development for the Joslin Diabetes Center, and Associate Director of Development for the Trustees of Reservations. She entered the field in 1978 at Tufts University during its campaign to create the first Veterinary School in New England. DeMarco also served as Vice President and Senior Counsel at Copley Harris Company for nearly a decade.
A former board member of Zonta International (Malden Chapter) she twice chaired its scholarship committee, and also served on the board of Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue. Present volunteer activities include: Executive Service Corps (ESC) of NE as a member consultant, and a 26-year commitment to the American Cancer Society as a “PaceSetter” for “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.”
A longtime member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, DeMarco presents and instructs at development conferences and workshops in New England and beyond. Diane is a graduate of Suffolk University.
